The number of homeless female veterans has tripled in the last ten years and that number continues to rise at an alarming rate as more women enter military service.

Our Mission

To break the cycle of homelessness among female veterans and their minor dependent children by delivering supportive services and resources that create holistic pathways to self-sufficiency and a brighter future.

To reduce the number of unhoused female veterans in our communities.

Our Story

It all started when Dr. Margaret Queen-Flowers—Founder and CEO of Genesis Joy House Homeless Shelter—was 12 years old.

Genesis also assists homeless female veterans in taking stock of their life experiences. They are given practical and effective tools to take charge of their lives and transform their futures. We know that thousands of lives will be turned around through our programs.

Margaret Flowers, the founder and CEO of Genese Joy House took me under her wing when I had nowhere to go. She made sure I had what I needed and now I am giving back to them I don’t know where I would be if it was not for her and Gensis Joy House . As a retired Veteran, it made me feel so appreciative of what they are doing for my comrades.  I was so impressed that I will be donating and volunteering with the organization.  I’m so grateful to know that an amazing organization exists for my comrades.
